You are looking at a personal item from the estate of 1939 Iowa Football Star Jim Walker.  Jim Walker played on that great University of Iowa Hawkeye Ironman team with Heisman Trophy winner Nile Kinnick.  Jim was recruited to Iowa because of Hall of Fame great Duke Slater, and the experience he had at Iowa being one of the only African American athletes.

1940's 8x10 Photograph of Jim Walker standing with his 1942 United States Coast Guard Football Team.  This photo has Legendary Boxing great Jack Dempsey in it, who was a coach on the team.
Jim Walker was #39 as you will see in the pictures.  Jim Walker and Jack Dempsey had a close relationship as they were both physical education instructors at that Coast Guard training location in Manhatten Beach at that time.  Jim taught hand to hand combat as he had done some boxing like Jack Dempsey.  The photograph is glued to an original scrapbook page.  I can't tell if Jack Dempsey's name is his hand written autograph or not, so the buyer can determine that.  It sure looks like it could be.  Please see scans for details.
