    Description

    The mic is used to not only level the speakers and set distances, but to also allow the receiver to correct EQ relative to your room's acoustics. The EQ correction system onboard your receiver (MultEQ XT) is one that was developed by Audyssey and requires the use of a specific Audyssey mic.
    You can level the speakers and set the distances witout this mic, but you cannot correct the EQ or configure the EQ correction without it. It would ordinarilly be advisable to apply room EQ correction as opposed to doing without it.
    The mic in question has a part number:  MIC-4000 and was manufactured by Onkyo inder license from Audysssey. This specific mic should be used in order for it to correspond with the calibration targets stored onboard the receiver.
